FAQ

What is Odarid for?

Removing old and new pet urine odor and residue from carpet, upholstery, mattresses, concrete, tile, artificial grass and hedges. It also removes odors and stains from vomit, feces, blood, coffee, wine and food spills.

How does it work?

Old urine smells because of uric acid and salt crystals that water-based cleaners can't dissolve. Odarid breaks those down, along with the other residue in urine that causes odor, so the smell is gone rather than covered up.

How do I use it?

Remove any solid waste and blot up fresh liquid first. Then apply heavily, either with a spray bottle or by pouring it straight on, so it soaks as deep as the urine did. Leave it to dry, or press towels on it to lift the residue.

How do I know it's working?

On old urine, Odarid foams. When the foaming stops, it has finished working, and there should be no smell left. Fresh urine, or an area already treated with another product, may not foam much; it is still working.

How many applications will old cat urine need?

Usually two. Apply heavily, let it stop foaming, and if any smell remains, apply again. That makes sure every odor-causing residue is broken down.

Does it remove stains as well as smell?

Yes, organic stains such as urine, blood, coffee and water marks. It won't lift dye or bleach marks.

Do I need to spot test first?

Yes, always. Odarid won't stain carpet or fabric in its natural state, but we can't know what other cleaners have been used on it before, or how they will react. Test a hidden spot first.

Is it safe for pets and children?

Yes, once it has dried. Keep pets and children off the treated area until it is completely dry, then it's fine to walk, crawl and play on.

Can I use it as a general cleaner?

Yes. It contains surfactants, so it cleans well as a ready-to-use spray. For floors and cages, dilute 4 oz in a bucket of warm water.

Can I use it on my lawn, hedges or artificial grass?

Yes, but not on delicate plants. On artificial grass, wait until it dries before letting pets back on.

Can I spray it on the litter in the litter box?

You can, but we'd rather you didn't do it constantly: a cat's paws can be sensitive to litter that is always soaked in it. Treat the floor and the area around the box instead.
